In project management there are three main constrains which are directly affect for the project delivery. Each constraint has an impact on one or more of the other constraints. Balancing the project constraints is one of biggest challenges of a project manager. Cost, Scope and Time are the main constrains which were defined in the typical project management.

Traditional Iron Triangle

Does this valid for agile project management?

In agile project management the main focus is to deliver value to customers through a quality product which will be developed iterative increments and incorporating customer feedback. Hence the three end points of the constraints triangle (iron triangle) have collapsed into one end point of the agile triangle called constraints and other two ends have replaced by Value and Quality which are the most important thing for a customer.

  • Value - for the customer in terms of a released product or deliverable.
  • Quality- continuous delivery of high quality and adaptive products.
  • Constraints- traditional scope, time/schedule, and cost.
