Perception and it’s role in living ethically…
Recently, I’ve been applying to graduate schools across the world for my masters in philosophy. As such, I felt the need to write a new academic essay investigating the Stoic claim on whether or not Virtue is sufficient for us to live a good life and it’s implications.
The answer may be obvious to some, but I don’t think it is, especially in a world centered on consumerism and mystification. In our lives, we are constantly told what we need to buy to make us happy; take out a loan on that car, buy that expensive home, if only you had a new couch all of your life problems will go away… and then you must spend all of your time working to keep our economies based on consumerist tendencies to grow and grow evermore…
These are all lies that we tell ourselves, and yet we continue to buy into them. But I digress.
This article is about a theory on perception and just how important it is in our daily lives, so eventually we can see the truth about a thing, not just simply to accept reality as we think we see it.
