September’s European edtech deals

A monthly overview

European edtech generated a little over $19 million in VC funding over six rounds, including $3.63 million invested in UK companies. The deals focused mostly on content platforms such as Labster, which raised $10m to make fully-equipped virtual labs available to any university, Inkitt, a reader-powered book publishing platform, and Gooseberry Planet, which uses gamified content to teach students how to be responsible digital citizens.

September’s biggest deals:
Labster raised $10m in a Series A round led by Balderton Capital.
Inkitt raised $3.9m in a pre-Series A from Frontline Ventures and SpeedInvest.
Hoop’s funding round, led by BFG Ventures, added up to $3.23 million.
