Is industry just 12 months far from the mass adoption of IoT? Well, that’s what IDC predicts. A lot has happened in India too around IoT (Internet of Things) in August; if you missed to read all that here.

What IBM and Dell leaders have to say about IoT in India?

Brenton Smith, VP & GM, Dell Software Group, APJ says that India is probably leading the charge in IoT because it’s quite incumbent by the legacy environment. Globally, there is nothing to halt the IoT wave. Dell’s focus is to enable IoT for analytics to make business sense and of course secure all the data.

IBM India Software Labs Vice President Kaushik Bhaskar says that IBM has implemented image recognition as part of IoT. Devices with innovative platforms can read images and translate them into simple sentences. After doing analytics, it can also make prediction. “One success story is in ATM operations. It is also evolving in auto industry, GPS-enabled services and emergency healthcare

Partnerships

IBM And HCL Are Teaming Up To Jointly Research On IoT, Set-Up an IoT Incubation Centre In Noida. This partnership will be solely focused towards industrial use. No smart homes at this point of time.

Reliance has ventured into IoT (Internet of Things) along with Ecorithm’s True Analytics Platform

Accenture is also working on bringing its 3D printing and IoT solutions to India as part of its growth markets strategy.

Investments

Mobile chip maker Qualcomm will invest $150 million in startups in India as it looks to expand its presence in the highly important emerging market

What Govt. is doing about IoT in India?

The Centre of Excellence for IoT- a combined initiative of Department of Electronics & IT, ERNET India and NASSCOM — is expected to promote an IoT ecosystem, which is vibrant & at the same time innovative, which will help our country attain a leadership role in this field. The basic objectives of it include:

  • To create innovative applications and domain capability across verticals for country’s needs such as smart city, smart health, smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, etc.
  • To build industry capable talent, start-up community and entrepreneurial ecosystem for IoT.
  • To provide an ecosystem for innovation to thrive and embrace entrepreneurship
  • To energise research mind-set and reduce costs in research and development by providing neutral and interoperable, multi-technology stack laboratory facilities
  • To reduce import dependency on IoT components and promote indigenization
  • To position India as a provider of end-to-end solution in engineering space
  • To provide environment for product creation, testing and also for validation & incubation IoT makes use of synergies that are generated by the convergence of consumer, business industries and services.

Hot off the press — IoT in India

Ericsson would be focusing in India as well as globally is Internet of Things or IOT.

New Launches/New Companies– IoT India

B.One home automation system: B.One logic engine runs on proprietary algorithms that learns from user behavior and gets smarter. It anticipates, predicts and notifies key activities or events to provide enhanced security and efficiency.

Ecorithm’s True Analytics Platform: Ecorithm’s patented approach provides automated fault detection, predictive analysis, and effectively eliminates the false positives that often plague analytics for complex systems. The True Analytics Platform does not require expensive hardware or time-consuming and costly programming customization.

Smart Cities and IoT in India

Connode is working with Reliance Energy in Mumbai as the strategic partner for communication solutions and applications using Intel® Gateways for building a Smart Sustainable City Network in Mumbai.

The solution features Intel® technology for high-performance IoT Smart City Gateways, capable of supporting distributed intelligence and with the ability to handle a large number of connected nodes, both IPv6 mesh and other IoT protocols
