Twitter Matters for Some People
Today, Twitter, and social media in general, is used by almost everyone for almost everything. Some of the people that use Twitter need to think about how it makes them look, especially in the positions that they are in.
The real reason anyone uses Twitter is to get more followers. It is all about how many people follow your page and interact with you, so people will try to do what they can to gain followers or get the most likes.
Twitter is used by regular private individuals as a way to connect with the world. People follow their friends, news pages and public individuals to stay in the know about what is happening. They also post things about their own lives for other people to see and follow.
Taylor Rivers, a nursing student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, said, “I pretty much use Twitter to keep up with my friends and my favorite celebrities.”
When people use twitter or any social media to post about their lives, I really think it makes them feel important. As they watch people interact with their posts, it makes them want to do it more and find more things to post about.
It is a great way for people to interact with each other to an extent.
Getting news on Twitter has become the new thing in today’s time. All of the different news outlets have a Twitter page where they constantly post the things that they think people need to know.
Because of how many people are on Twitter, these news outlets can reach so many more people this way than they would without a social media page. It is still about reaching the most people.
Lenzie Spencer, a waitress in Bogalusa, stated, “I get all of my news from Twitter because I do not watch a lot of TV and when I do it is on Netflix.”
Celebrities use Twitter to reach their audience. They can post online for their fans and it gives the fans a way to feel like they can really interact with the people that they adore. It is a way that they can promote themselves and any new projects that they are working on, but they can also act like real people.
There are also public individuals like people in powerful positions that use Twitter and sometimes they do not use it the way they should and some should not even use it at all.
Donald Trump’s Twitter page is one of the best examples of a public individual who uses Twitter the wrong way.
The President of the United States should be very aware of their image and should always act in a very professional way because they are the person who runs our country.
Someone in his position should not be using Twitter, even in the technology age that we are in.
Northshore Technical Community College student Hayley Crawford commented, “I believe that it is okay for Trump to use Twitter. Yes, he is our president, but he is also a person like us.”
When Trump posts a tweet that says “China is DREAMING that Sleepy Joe Biden, or any of the others, gets elected in 2020. They LOVE ripping off America!” he ruins his image as a leader. People cannot take someone like that seriously.
Twitter matters for some people, but there are definitely some individuals who should not use it or should at least use it in moderation.
