Millennials invest in crypto assets in case of recession

Can cryptocurrency become a replacement for traditional investments? Recent research by Knight Frank suggests that cryptocurrencies have bypassed gold and bonds in terms of investment attractiveness, and that interest is steadily increasing. One of the key reasons for this is that
Generation Y, people born between 1985 and 1995, are embracing crypto as the reach financial maturity.

Separately, the eToro investment platform recently published the results of an intriguing survey of around 1,000 investors. Most investors are seeking to grow their portfolios by diversifying hazards and using safer assets in the midst of increasing volatility. One of the survey’s interesting findings is that an investor’s preference toward specific assets shifts according to their age. So,

▪️ Generation Y (born between 1980–1995) prefer cryptocurrencies;
▪️ Generation X (born from 1965 to 1979) prefer to channel their funds into goods;
▪️ Generation Z (born after 1995 and later) consider real estate investment to be the most credible.

Grayscale Investments, meanwhile, released a case study which suggested using bitcoin as a hedging tool to balance a portfolio in the event of economic instability. The authors of the study suggest that BTC’s potential may become clear during times of liquidity crisis.

What this all means is that crypto is becoming an increasingly credible part of investment portfolios for growing numbers of people and institutions. The next big step for the sector will be the delivery of a robust, secure, regulated way of trading crypto that meets the needs of both professional and amateur traders. That surely can’t be too far away…
