Feedback Mechanism

an activity for capturing spontaneous feedback

--

What is it for?

Feedback Mechanisms are set up in a dedicated station in a space for reflecting, writing, and submitting people’s experience with a new design or objects installed in the space. Participants write how interacting with the design makes them feel by using metaphors.

Emotion-Centered Design

Impact

It captures spontaneous feedback from participants without lengthy interviews and collects concise feedback and nuanced notes about people’s experiences.

What does it look like?

After a new design or object has been installed in a shared space, a researcher, designer, of facilitator uses this lo-fi Feedback Mechanism to collect real-time feedback from people using the space.

The facilitator sets up a mini feedback-station near the service or product that needs evaluating. The design and provide instructions at the station so that people can fill out the framework with ease on their own.
