We had never had as many chances to connect with our environment and with others as we have today, however, it is necessary to learn how to undo this path and start disconnecting to recover lost energy. The daily tasks leads us to get lost in a forest of obligations and we end up distancing ourselves from the things that matter, our physical and psychological health.

If you could fill yourself with strength, decrease your stress and improve self-control in just few minutes, would you be willing to do it?

Taking a little break will do all this for you.

Increasingly research shows the benefits of taking 15-to-20 minutes break throughout the day. A restful mind and body tend to follow healthy living habits, moreover they are also more productive, creative and happy.

So you know, taking a break from time to time will help you to finish all your tasks and make you live a little better. Now let’s give you 4 concrete ways to take a break wherever you are:

  1. Regain strength

Your brain is like a muscle, and when you stifle it from work you lose your ability to perform tasks optimally, so it needs to regain strength. If you overindulge in complex task or thoughts, eventually your abilities will be depleted because your brain, instinctively, will begin to save energy and reduce your attention. When you notice that your attention begins to distract it is time to leave the task for 10 minutes to take a break.

2. Move on

Your body needs to rest. We already know that a sedentary life is bad for our health, as well as all the diseases related to this lifestyle: obesity, hypertension, cholesterol, etc. The solution to stimulate your body is to plan routines to get activate every hour. For example, establish an alarm every 60 minutes and go on a short 200-step walk, it will help you to stay active and healthy.

3. Distance yourself

If you need to generate good ideas but you are stuck do not despair, take a bigger breath. Do something related to the task that occupies you. For example, meet a friend to have a coffee and discuss with him your project, surely he will offer you a new way to see the things that you had not raised so far. Listen to a TED talk related with the topic in question or look for a book by an expert in the field that can serve you as inspiration.

4. Mindfulness

Mindfulness practice (full attention) reduces the levels of emotional tiredness, it helps us to keep our emotions balanced, and increases job satisfaction. Instead of trying to avoid or reduce a negative emotion, mindfulness requires willingness to keep contact with the emotion and let it exists in a healthy way. The good news: these results can be observable as of 2 weeks of practice.

You are ready to take that much-needed breath, at home, in the office, outdoors or anywhere. Dare to breathe.
