I Don’t Want To Be a Helicopter Parent

Looking for the right balance

Sometimes it would be easier to be a helicopter parent. I try not to be one, but it is not easy to find the right balance. I want my daughters to make their own decisions and own them. Yet, they are still learning, and although they’ll learn from their mistakes, I also want to set them up for success.

I, too, am learning to parent. I hope I don’t harm them, you know, the type of damage that will require a mental health professional to help them.
