Welcome to Empathy Cafe

Those who read our stories can relate to our trials, burdens, fears, hopes, goals, failures, pain, and walk in life. We created Empathy Cafe as a storytelling platform where individuals share their journeys. We cheer them along the way, laugh with them, cry, and feel connected at the core, our shared humanity.

If this resonates with you, we’d love you to join our team!

How to become a writer for us

  • We are looking for articles that tell real-life stories that inspire or challenge.
  • If you think you’re up for that challenge, please email us at josuesanchez@icloud.com and tell us a little about yourself and your article ideas.
  • Include any links to articles that you think might fit the publication’s vibe.
  • Once you’ve been approved as a writer, submit a given piece by going to the top right corner of your article, pressing the three dots, selecting ‘Add to Publication’ and then choosing Empathy Cafe.
  • Editor feedback is designed to help you; please respect that.
  • Make sure you clap for this story and follow the publication so we can verify your Medium profile.

Guidelines for Articles

  • We prefer drafts, but accept articles that are already published.
  • Our ideal article length is a 3–4 minute read.
  • We edit the articles for grammar and readability (we use Grammarly). When you send us your draft, we want to have to do as little editing as possible. So, please make sure that you have checked your spelling and grammar and have a cover image, a title, subtitle, and full accreditation for any images and quotes you use.
  • Include one of these tags: ‘Faith,’ ‘LGTBQ,’ or ‘Mental Health.’ Then, add other tags you think are relevant to your piece.
  • There are no expectations on the frequency of submissions. Some of our writers submit regularly, others occasionally.

If you have any questions or require more information, please send us an email, or comment below! We look forward to working with you!
