Are you gutsy?

Being gutsy vs. being ready

When I was pregnant, people told my husband and I some variation of “nothing can prepare you for becoming parents.” They were right about one thing — it’s impossible to be ready for that kind of change. (I’m defining ‘ready’ as fully prepared — knowing what will happen and how to respond to it.)

But just like the millions of others who’ve become parents, we’re figuring it out as we go. And that takes guts.

Change takes guts — especially when we can’t predict or control the outcome.

It takes guts to ask someone on a date not knowing how they’ll respond.
It takes guts to start a business that may or may not work.
It takes guts to move across the country and develop new friendships.
It takes guts to see someone else’s perspective when it might change our beliefs.

It takes guts to face a surge of fears and step into the unknown anyway.

Instead of worrying about being ready, let’s work on being gutsy.
