Keep trying

A reminder as we do hard things

Showing empathy is hard. Assuming good intent is hard. Seeking connection before seeking change is hard. Staying curious is hard.

As we do hard things, it’s likely we’ll mess up. We might speak when we should listen or criticize when we should stay curious.

In those moments, we might feel like we’ve failed or worse, that we’re a failure. It might be easy to think empathy just isn’t our thing. Or that empathy doesn’t work.

But the real failure isn’t stumbling while doing hard things — it’s failing to try again.

So keep trying.

When it’s hard, keep trying.

When you mess up, keep trying.

When it takes longer than you thought, keep trying.
