Well, the trailer has been shared. The release date has been announced.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is another addition to the over-hyped Star Wars franchise. A second part of the third trilogy. (Excessive use of numbers in a single sentence?) Since all the fans are being nostalgic and writing Star Wars themed articles, I thought Why not one more? (Me too, me too!)

As a Star Wars fan (or not), you obviously know the wildly popular “Do or do not. There is no try.” quote by Yoda.

Not only these life teachings from Yoda but also some dialogues by many other characters stuck in our minds and encouraged us to act accordingly in real life. I’m going to write specifically about some of the valuable lessons we can learn from female characters in Star Wars.

1.Act like a leader.
Lead the way when everyone else looks at each other for solutions.

“Someone has to save our skins.” — Princess Leia Organa

While Han and Luke were hiding behind the shelter, thinking there is no way they can escape this fight. Being a quick thinker, Leia goes ahead to cover them and finds another way to escape.

2.Actions speak louder than words.
Sometimes doing the right thing is more important than just discussing it over to find the solutions.

“I was not elected to watch my people suffer and die while you discuss this invasion in a committee!” — Padmé Amidala

At the same time, be mindful of your actions. Do not make rash decisions. Think it through while taking important decisions, especially when many people are involved in the situation.

I will not condone a course of action that will lead us to war. — Padmé Amidala

3.Be self-sufficient.
Rely on yourself to grow. Instead of depending on others.

“I know how to run without you holding my hand.” — Rey

When they land on Maz’s planet, Han offers Rey a gun. Seeing that, she replies “I can handle myself.” Han tells her that’s why he’s giving a gun to her. Because she is responsible to handle it. It’s a dialogue where you can precisely tell where Rey starts making her own decisions, about the mission and takes a job with him.

4.Learn to let go of the past.
The only time you should look back is when you want to learn from your mistakes. Letting go of the past is a good strategy to declutter your mind because it no longer serves you.

“Dear child! The longing you seek is not behind you, it is in front of you” — Maz Kanata

This also goes hand in hand with a dialogue by Yoda, “Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.” Worrying about what we can’t control and clinging to what we think is ours is wasted time and energy.

5.Do not lose hope while pursuing your dreams.
Giving up on your pursuit is a surefire way to fail. Go ‘all in’ on your pursuit, you will figure out everything else on the way.

We have hope. Rebellions are built on hope! — Jyn Erso

Need more rant on this? Here’s what Jyn Erso said to the Rogue One troop when they had no idea if they are going to complete the mission or if they are coming back.

If we can make it to the ground, we’ll take the next chance. And the next. On and on until we win… or the chances are spent. What chance do we have? The question is “what choice.” Run, hide, plead for mercy, scatter your forces. You give way to an enemy this evil with this much power and you condemn the galaxy to an eternity of submission. The time to fight is now! — Jyn Erso

There is a lot to learn from every character in Star Wars, whether it’s from charismatic Princess Leia or furious Rey!

May the force be with you.
