The Kiss — Gustav Klimt (public domain)

Brushing my cheek
against his face
leaning in for a hug,
light sweeps across my body
warming it with joy and love

Hearing him sing
down the hall
stops me in my tracks
I dance over to him
to listen closer
his voice soothes my soul

When he stares at me
I ask why,
he laughs every time
‘You’re beautiful’
he replies, making me
smile and kiss him quickly

He has to see
how his love moves me
deep within

This poem is for my husband. I took inspiration from the song You Move Me by Garth Brooks. This song has been “our song” since we first heard it; it describes our love and relationship perfectly.
