Have we behaved so horribly we’ve made you hide your face?
Never wanting to see us again, never wanting your rays to touch our bodies.
Did we take for granted your life-giving heat?
Your caresses and kisses that made us sing.
You’ve decided you won’t be treated this way anymore,
You’ve retreated behind a blanket of clouds,
A raining of snow,
A gray cover of protection from us below.
