At the heart of Empirisys are our values. Our values influence our decision-making and our behaviours, whether we are in marketing, data science or engineering.

Our values help us to deliver brilliant products and services for our clients and to create a positive and inclusive space for our employees. Although transparency isn’t explicitly one of our values, it’s something that we feel underpins the way we generally like to work. And in that vein, we’d like to share the values that underpin the culture at Empirisys.

1. Teamwork

Teamwork sits at the top of our values because we believe it’s the most fundamental. Teamwork encourages us to work together, ask questions, debate issues, and learn from one another. It makes product development and service delivery more efficient and enjoyable.

How do we encourage this?

  • Hiring a diverse team of brilliant people who share our values and bring distinct perspectives to the business.
  • Building trust within the team between all employees by being transparent and open about all the aspects of the business.
  • Encouraging clear and frequent communication, such as meeting up face-to-face for away days, getting together to work on projects, and having regular weekly online meetings with the whole team.

2. Courage & Tenacity

Paired with Teamwork is Courage & Tenacity. It takes courage to ask the difficult questions, and tenacity to keep pressing on despite the setbacks you might encounter as a start-up. Employees at Empirisys are dedicated to the success of the business without taking shortcuts. It is important for employees to change course if needed, even if it’s the tougher path.

How do we encourage this?

  • Encourage employees to speak up when they have an opinion on an issue, positive or negative.
  • Emphasise that there are no stupid questions.
  • Support employees in their work to persevere with difficult challenges; when they fall off the horse, help them back on.

3. Creativity & Fun

At Empirisys we deliver products and services that allow us to be creative. We want our employees to work on projects they find exciting and give them the opportunity to use their talents. We created Empirisys so that we could foster an environment where this is the norm.

How do we encourage this?

  • Give our employees the flexibility to work when it suits them because we believe happy employees mean a more productive, creative, and fun work environment.
  • The projects we deliver allow employees to be creative in their day-to-day activities.
  • We encourage our employees to pick the projects that they find most interesting and always try to accommodate.

4. Learn & Grow

At Empirisys we encourage learning at every level of the organisation. We feel that we have a professional responsibility to keep developing ourselves in order to better serve our clients. We expect everybody to make mistakes as it is an essential part of growth.

How do we encourage this?

  • Every two weeks we hold a lunch-and-learn session where we share knowledge on topics from process safety to data science.
  • We hold retrospectives during and after each project to help us keep improving.
  • We support our employees by giving them the time and money to spend on courses that let them acquire new skills, benefiting both them and our business.
