Welcome to Emplify Stories. Developed by Breinchild, Emplify is more than a SaaS platform — it's an Identity, Discovery and Development system designed to build innovation into the DNA of its member organisations. At Emplify Stories, we aim to stir conversation and debate on innovation. We invite you to join the discussion to fan the flames of innovation and shape the future.

This first Story introduces Breinchild, the Startup behind Emplify.

Breinchild is its people :

Together, we are Breinchild, and we share a passion for innovation. We’re on a mission to improve the rate of innovation success globally. Our experience and research have brought us to a pivotal understanding:

  1. People are at the heart of successful innovation. It’s the human spark that ignites groundbreaking ideas and turns them into reality.
  2. Many organisations have yet to fully realise the immense potential residing within their people.

Innovation isn’t just a task to be executed; it's a human-centric journey we are all part of. So rather than building new processes or tools to add to organisations’ innovation arsenal, we are building Emplify. Emplify helps organisations and their people build a thriving innovation culture together — more on this in our upcoming Stories.

Many people ask why there is an “e” in Breinchild. Our brand name and logo are purposeful.

The “Brein” and our logo are a nod to how today’s organisations think. Today’s organisations often rely on left-brain thinking, which involves using logic and reason to make decisions and solve problems. The creativity and imagination of the right brain are the stuff of eccentrics and those on the edge. This divide holds us back. We believe the “magic” of successful innovation lies at the intersection of cognitive thinking and human emotion. Breinchild’s logo represents the left and right brain hemispheres, providing this all-important balance between logic and creativity.

Breinchild is a metaphor for looking at things differently. The “e” begs the question, is it a typo, or are you looking at it through an inflexible lens? The “e” invites us to shift our viewpoints, be open to diverse perspectives and challenge the status quo. This single letter symbolises our ethos: to question and look beyond the conventional.

And then there’s the “child”. Inherent in the brand name is the optimistic naivete of a child. Children are not confined by notions of the impossible or entrenched norms (like spelling); they are curious and see magic and possibilities. We can all learn from children’s unencumbered view of the world.

The story of how Breinchild came together is a tale of luck and connection.

Craig and Euan met in a client-agency relationship. The client brief was challenging. Euan describes it as “like trying to catch a falling knife”. Rather than what could have easily been a “us” and “them” relationship, Craig and Euan connected and became good mates. Ten years later, when both sought to inject more relevancy and passion into their careers, working together was a no-brainer. Innovation is their shared passion; the kernel of Breinchild was born.

Jude became the third partner through an unexpected turn of events. A newspaper headline detailing Craig’s departure from his ad agency to nurture the fledgling Breinchild piqued her interest. Intrigued by the idea, she sent a LinkedIn request to connect, and the rest is history: Jude and the two founders bonded over shared values and regular video catch-ups during lockdown life.

Breinchild’s team expanded with the arrival of Jean Phillippe (JP), the first official employee. Drawn in by the company’s ambitious spirit and values that echoed his own, JP fitted right in from day one. His practical wisdom and insightful viewpoints have earned him a place as Breinchild’s fourth partner.

Together, we are hellbent on bringing Emplify to the world. Our passion for innovation is our North Star.
