Employee Perspectives — A Quick Q&A with Joel Albrecht, POD Lead

What interests you in surveying and mapping?

I guess I’ve always had a draw to Physical Geography and why things are the way they are. I have the opportunity to map many parts of the world and witness the vast diversity of our world. I haven’t been able to do a lot of traveling yet, but I can do it vicariously through mapping. There are so many things that you can make maps of and influence people’s decisions and perceptions through those maps.

Why do you work at Continental Mapping?

I really enjoy the diversity of work that Continental Mapping undertakes. I also really enjoy being part of a small company. It allows me to get to know everybody here and make personal connections with them. There is a lot of opportunity for career advancement here as well.

What’s your favorite part about Continental Mapping?

I enjoy the laid back culture here. I’ve made a lot of good friends and I always enjoy going to work. There is always interest in some sort of sports related league, which allows for camaraderie to carry on after work as well.
