JK Rowling had been hinting about her “moderately transphobic” stance for many months. Rumblings of her following a number of known transphobes on Twitter (especially considering that she follows such few accounts) had created concern within the trans community. There were those who “canceled” her immediately, there where those who chose not to voice opinions unless-and-until she makes openly transphobic declarations.

The bigotry is out of the bag now

Well, here is Rowling herself, with a full-on anti-trans screed.
And, interspersed between her paragraphs, my replies.

Rowling:
This isn’t an easy piece to write, for reasons that will shortly become clear, but I know it’s time to explain myself on an issue surrounded by toxicity. I write this without any desire to add to that toxicity.
