Barnas Øy makes quadruple global impact with Empower

The kids at Foreningen Barnas Øy were ready to do clean-ups for a global impact. The growing concern for plastic waste pollution has been spreading to different sectors of society. Children are as eager to make an effort for the environment as much as adults are, if not more. This summer the kids at the summer camp by Foreningen Barnas Øy united in their efforts to clean-up and save the oceans for plastic waste gone astray in the environment. Foreningen Barnas Øy matched these collective efforts and multiplied it 4 times, which led to them sponsoring clean-ups of 200 kg of plastic waste around the world! This way their local action makes global impact!
Studies show that children are increasingly engaged in advocating for their future, they are also effective advocates to their parents. Through the clean-ups, Barnas Øy not only raised awareness in the young minds but also made sure that there was an understanding of the environmental effects of plastic waste in the world and how a collective effort with the help of technology can contribute to changes in the global picture.
Foreningen Barnas Øy have executed pioneering work in the clubs and association sector to remove some of the plastic footprint in the world with Empower. Their enthusiasm and efforts are exemplary demonstrations on how clubs, federations and different societies, through the help of Empower- technology can take action and make a global impact on the plastic waste movement. Foreningen Barnas Øy offers 5 days of experiences for children between 6–12 years on Bragdøya just outside Kristiansand. It is a holiday and leisure activity for children and young people on Bragdøya. They offer 5 day courses and experiences where the coast and nature are in focus. Here, children learn how to drive, sail, row, paddle, water ski, wakeboard, dive, fish. The children also learn a lot about healthy and exciting food, nature and outdoor experiences.
