Blockchain Startup Acquires Plastic Recycling Marketplace
Empower, known for its innovative use of blockchain technology to create transparent and secure supply chains, acquires plastic marketplace Atomler to scale technology solutions for the circular economy.
Atomler, a Swedish plastic marketplace startup, has been acquired by Empower, a Norwegian growth company and circular economy platform. The acquisition of Atomler allows both companies to expand their impact in the field of sustainability and waste management.
“We are thrilled to welcome Atomler to the Empower family,” said Wilhelm Myrer, CEO of Empower. “This acquisition is a natural fit for our company, as both Empower and Atomler share a commitment to using technology to drive positive change in the world.”
“This is an exciting step forward for Atomler and our mission to reduce plastic waste,” said Atomler CEO Sammy-Sebastian Tawakkoli. “We are confident that the resources and expertise of Empower will help us to scale and make an even greater impact on the environment.”
With the acquisition, Empower will leverage its blockchain platform to improve the efficiency and transparency of the plastic recycling process.
Transparency is an essential aspect of the circular economy, as it helps to ensure that resources are being used efficiently and effectively and that the environmental and social impacts of resource use are being adequately accounted for. The company also plans to use data from the plastic recycling marketplace to inform future sustainability initiatives.
“We held discussions with a few companies, but none that had the vision and process to get there that convinced. Empower has a team with unique competencies executing on a solid roadmap.”, said Johannes Schill, CTO at Atomler.
By joining forces with Atomler, Empower is widening its scope to engage players in the industry and leverage the experience of different stakeholders to accelerate their problem-solving ability.
“We have been following Atomler for a long time and we think there are a lot of synergies to capture, both between the technologies and the teams. This deal brings years of hands-on circular economy expertise to Empower and strengthens our position as the leading digital platform for the Circular Economy and a World Without Waste” — shares Wilhelm Myrer, CEO Empower.
Partnerships like these are crucial to finding innovative solutions to global issues such as plastic waste. By bringing together knowledge and resources, companies plan to leverage each other’s strengths and accelerate progress towards their shared goals. The joint team is excited to be a more significant part of the transformative movement and make some serious progress towards achieving our now-shared mission.
