Real Producer Responsibility

The term “producer responsibility” is often used to refer to the idea that producers should be responsible for the environmental impacts of their products. However, this term is often used in a more general sense and may not necessarily refer to the full lifecycle of a product.

In contrast, the term “extended producer responsibility” specifically refers to a policy approach in which producers are responsible for the entire lifecycle of their products, including the collection, transport, treatment, and disposal of the waste generated by their products. This approach is considered to be more comprehensive and is sometimes referred to as “real” or “full” producer responsibility.

Therefore, if the term “producer responsibility” is used in a more general sense, it could be considered to be “limited” producer responsibility. However, if the term “producer responsibility” is used to specifically refer to the extended producer responsibility approach, then it could be considered to be “full” or “real” producer responsibility.
