Underrated!

After feeling redeemed by the user reviews on one my favorite albums Pink Flag, I’ve realized just how much our community has to offer. I hope you’ve enjoyed our staff picks, and we’re working on a way to bring some of our staff recommendations to the albums themselves, but until then … maybe have a look at some of these releases and either:

(a) if you’ve heard them and you got something to say, leave a review! or

(b) if you haven’t heard them and you have some credits left, check it out and leave a review!

You’ll see a handy “Add a Review” button on the lower portion of the album page for each album. I’ve noted the albums with regional restrictions below.

You can be the first one to leave a review! Sound like a plan?

Brian Chase — Drums and Drones II (ICM)

Brian Chase is the drummer for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and one of Gigwise’s 50 greatest drummers of all time. If you like drone, I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

The Beths — Future Me Hates Me (Carpark Records)

*album only available in US and Canada

It’s likely you’ve already seen that New York Times article rounding the social media carousel about why songs of the summer sound the “same.” Earlier this summer, Rolling Stone was calling The Beths’ “Happy Unhappy” the song of the summer. I don’t know if that’s true, but if it is … it doesn’t sound anything like “Despacito.”

Sam Gendel & Sam Wilkes — Music for Saxofone & Bass Guitar (Leaving Records)

Full disclosure: My name is Sam. So are these two very talented musicians. I have also never played bass guitar, but I did play saxophone in marching band, but I quit after getting frostbite during the Thanksgiving Day game and a rare lung condition the following spring. Is that enough full disclosure for you?

Martyn — Voids (OstGut Ton)

*not available in all regions

I confess, what I know about the electronic genre could scarcely fill a gelatin capsule, but I know what I like: a healthy ratio of variety to voice, perhaps a dose of tribal flavor. Maybe you can help me by reviewing this album!

Giants in the Trees — Giants in the Trees

Show Kris Novoselic some love! And the rest of his band mates, why not?

These are just some of the albums that don’t have reviews. Take a look through the site like you normally would, and if you see a lonely album without a review … fix it!
