Ahome is Home

The IFT-8 radio station for Ahome, Sinaloa, XHCCBZ-FM 103.9 “La 103.9 FM”, is now officially on the air as of Tuesday. Owned by AP Grupo Radio, it is being programmed in part by Soy Radio, a US-based company owned by Samuel Olvera. It is Soy’s first client in Mexico, and the strong emphasis on “visual” radio makes me think a lot of the station they must be going after, Stereo Uno.

Though in Ahome, ’BZ has been authorized from the start to serve Los Mochis. The main transmitter is in Los Mochis, at the class maximum of 3 kW but extremely directional to keep the signal in the Class A statutory radius of 24 km. A 100-watt co-channel booster is approved for Ahome itself. The IFT required both transmitters to start at the same time, in order to provide adequate service to the primary locality.

XECPC — Wait a Minute

Javier Juárez Mojica and the other IFT commissioners went down to the Senate on Wednesday to deliver the concession for the new radio station for Congress.

One housekeeping item, and it’s a curveball. Based on 2024 filings, I believed the IFT would assign XECPCX-AM 1690 to Congress. They didn’t: they assigned XECPCM-AM 1650, on a frequency which was vacated by the Article 90 clear of XEARZ-AM some time back. This is the very first Article 90 cleared frequency on AM or FM to be reawarded for another use.

ANESMA On Air

The ANESMA TV channel on 8.4 Mexico City is now testing as of this evening.
