Imagen TV Plays Small Ball

In the most significant addition of new Imagen TV transmitters to the RPC in a long time, five new call signs have been published for assignments in the network. Several are in the smallest outposts of the package of 123 main transmitters, too.

  • XHCTGN-TDT 28, Guerrero Negro BCS
  • XHCTSR-TDT 25, Santa Rosalía BCS
  • XHCTEE-TDT 21, Creel Chih.
  • XHCTAN-TDT 28, Autlán de Navarro Jal.
  • XHCTMN-TDT 20, Cd. Mante Tamps.

These represent some of the 54 or 62 applications pending in September for new transmitters in the network.

There is also a reference at the U.S. FCC to another transmitter:

  • Shadow XHCTAA-TDT 14, Piedras Negras. AA is for Ciudad Acuña. Approved apparently in October, this will be a 200-watt shadow of a larger station to be built at Acuña.

Family Shuffle in Tampico

On Monday, Grupo AS completed a swap of the formats on XHMU-FM 90.1 and XHHF-FM 96.9 in Tampico. La Poderosa has moved up to 96.9 (which covers about 60,000 more people total in outlying areas) with Ke Buena sliding to 90.1.

Another Final Fifth Rule Station

Circle December 18, 2024 on your calendar. That’ll be the last day — at least under that call sign and concession — for XHUTT-FM 102.5 “Sintonía UTTAB” in Villahermosa, Tabasco. The IFT revealed that the concession denial was to the Universidad Tecnológica de Tabasco, which only holds one station.

That makes two of the three university stations in the state to need concession replacements. (XHUJAT-FM 107.3 becomes XHCPEK-FM 96.1 tomorrow.)

Incompatible Equipment, Cause for Unife Delay

The reason Unife missed its January 12 deadline to be added as XHFAMX 8.3 was because of technical incompatibility in the air chain. That’s at least the reason that won them a 60-day extension from the IFT to March 12. Additional equipment is apparently needed to get the signal processed and broadcast.

Contract-Law Season’s In The Air

As every year, the clock is ticking on an updated collective bargaining agreement for the broadcasting industry’s 45,000 employees.

Workers — represented by the triumvirate of the STIRTT, SITATYR, and SIEMART — have opened the bargaining with a proposed 20 percent pay increase. An agreement must be reached by the end of January or a strike could be called.

And a Call Sign

Radio Ahuatl, A.C., received its concession for its new community station in Ahuatitla, Hidalgo, and announced the frequency and call sign. They will go on the air as XHSCIO-FM 107.7.
