The mission: Take the beloved BeanBird character and bring it to life on a Raspberry Pi robot.

The situation: Last year the Enact team got an urgent request to participate in an innovation project. The project was to design a robot that combined Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) with webOS Open Source Edition and show off their combined capabilities. Other teams had built the base robot, added webOS support and connected the sensors and the display. What was needed now was a way for the robot to interact with users. And, with Raspberry Pi as the base platform, resources would be at a minimum.

The solution: Enact was designed to operate in low powered embedded systems so it made a great starting point for designing the visual interface for the robot. Enact team members Blake Stephens and Jason Robitaille were able to quickly iterate on the BeanBird application to make a fun and functional robot.
