Absurdist was born from the question “why are some opinions more valid than others?” We try to explore individual relationality through our articles.

We publish informed perspectives on fringe topics. We want to transcend academia and emotional reactions and move the conversation toward a solution. We want to add outside narratives to perennial stories — voices worth hearing.

Good dialog is inclusive, and we encourage a mixture of topics pitched by both readers and writers. Because we welcome a broad range of voices and experiences, some editorial guidance is necessary to ensure consistent quality and clearly reflect the writer’s style and intent.

Submissions and pitches should be submitted via google doc to getabsurdist@gmail.com, and ideally fall into one of two categories:

  • Daily ‘articles’ (Around 500 words) with a lighter tone, focused on art and culture, music, and current events/trends. These should be emailed as a polished Medium draft link. Once an article reaches 2k views, authors are paid $20 per article.
  • In-depth features (A few thousand words) of insightful non-fiction and narrative journalism. Accepted features are assigned to our editorial team, and are paid around $400, depending on the nature of the story and popularity among readers. We will provide imagery and layout.

I imagine if you’ve been following us, you feel similarly about things and we hope you’ll add your voice to the conversation.

Thanks,
Absurdist Editorial Team
