Back in April 2018, attended the 3-day ‘AWS Summit’ in Sydney. Over 10,000 attendees crammed into over 100 sessions, ranging from high level(Level 100) to deep dives (Level 400).

Without say, the majority of attendees were male ‘dev heads’ with beards — carrying backpacks filled with the latest ‘apple mac book pros’. Most had the same goal for the next few days — ‘finding out what next in the AWS landscape’.

The first morning on Day 1 was about ‘innovation’, and how AWS platforms are helping to accelerate innovation.

Key themes from the AWS sessions where culture, customer obsession, experimentation, high velocity decisions & embracing tailwinds.

It’s awesome to see our core values, at Shine Products, following AWS key themes for innovation.

On the second day we heard how Amazon still think it’s a startup company.

Jeff Bezos “Day 2 is stasis. Followed by irrelevance. Followed by excruciating, painful decline. Followed by death,” he said. “And that is why it is always Day 1.”

Couple of great quotes on Day 3 — ‘Disrupt or risk being disrupted’ and ‘Everybody is a builder’

Learning and Innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success is to think what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow.

As a company we are always looking to embrace AWS innovation for our customers, and as we current use over 47 different AWS products to help us build some awesome solutions. With AWS releasing new platforms quicker than we can say ‘innovate’, business opportunities in the future are only restricted by our imagination.

Keep yours eyes open on how we have embraced some of the newer AWS platforms with upcoming articles on

  • Building collaborative platforms for our customers to allow sharing of data
  • Turbo boosting your data source
  • Implementing voice user interfaces
  • Batch Processing at scale can save us time
  • Using open source frameworks might not always be the best option
