After reading this, you’ll have knowledge and methods for accessing deeper states of consciousness necessary for experiencing transcending physical reality.

The most effective way to access altered states of consciousness is through meditation. It’s essential to clear up some misconceptions and pitfalls surrounding meditation.

Meditation is focused attention, directing your awareness.
You can meditate profoundly enough to transcend physical reality with proper attention and concentration. Understanding this is a worthwhile investment of your time, as it lays the foundation for everything that follows.

A common phrase is “Where your attention goes, energy flows”. With that said, being able to focus your attention for one hour on your quantum (etheric) body would imbue energy into it, thus providing some desirable results. Many people, myself included, struggle to focus on a single point for extended periods due to overstimulation. Reducing external stimulation will increase focus and attention.

Let’s explore this a little deeper. Have you ever tried to follow a guided meditation and found your mind wandering? Or have you tried meditating in silence and found yourself falling asleep? Or have you ever tried studying and found yourself wanting to do anything else except study?
There’s a high chance that this is because your brain is conditioned to stimulation. Your brain loves multiple sources of external stimulation simultaneously, probably stemming from trying to escape reality. But you see, we’re trying to penetrate reality, not escape from it, so we must cultivate our attention and focus.

Meditation brings joy when you can hold your attention for one hour internally without resorting to mental fantasy for stimulation.
Training the mind to function without external stimulation is critical to successful meditation. Many people who claim to be meditators are simply just entertaining themselves internally.

The depth of meditation is experienced when you go beyond the mind’s flow of chatter and imagery into the deeper layers of the subconscious symbology and then beyond the mind completely.

How to tell if you’re actually meditating or simply passing the time with your eyes closed and entertaining mental imagery? To figure this out, it will help us to refer to an ancient system written by one of India’s most significant sages, Patanjali — author of the Yoga Sutras. In it, he describes the stages of meditation as part of an eight-limb system of Yoga.

The fifth limb of this system is Pratyahara (Withdrawl of the senses and reduction of stimulation).

The sixth limb is Dharana (Concentration/attention of the mind).
The seventh is Dhyana (Meditation)

Here you can see that five & six are prerequisites to meditation. (So are the other four). Meditation is focused attention on a single point.

Many people who think they’re meditating are stuck on the sixth limb, Dharana. They cannot cultivate strong attention because they’ve been exposed to too much external stimulation.

To break through into the seventh limb, Dhyana, you must reduce external stimulation to improve the quality and strength of your attention to hold your attention on a single point, meditation.

What does this mean for us? Well, withdrawing our senses and concentrating the mind on a single point is how we will access our etheric/quantum body.

Exercise: Quantum/Etheric meditation.

Lay down.
In a dark room, be silent and still for one hour.
Do nothing!
Be present with your body. (That means to focus your attention within your body, not in your mind, not in fantasy and not in mental imagery)
At some point during this, your body will go through stages of relaxation. Eventually, if you feel safe and calm enough, focus on the space your body occupies.
If you start to feel intense vibrations, don’t panic, you’re on the right track. If you can surrender to them, it will produce the desired result.

An exercise to help clarify this. Hold your arm out in front of you. Look at your hand. Your hand is occupying space. Focus on that space, not your hand. Do this in the mediation for your entire body or individual body parts to begin with if that helps.

Fun fact:
Atoms are 99.999999% “empty” space. Your body is made up of atoms. So, your body is 99.999999% empty space also. If you take that 0.00000001% solid matter and stack every atom in your body side by side, then every human being on the planet would fit on the head of a pin. That’s the physical reality for you, mainly energy, perceived as solid.

I will continue this in another post to touch on lucid dreaming.
