Zug, Switzerland — 13 July 2020 — Today Energy Web announced that its native Energy Web Token (EWT) will be available on global exchange KuCoin, with trading commencing on 14 July. EWT has already been available for the global energy community since September 2019 on Liquid and since May 2020 on BitMart. KuCoin brings a reputation for selecting only high-quality, technically-advanced projects from the blockchain landscape and represents EWT’s largest exchange to date.

“Listing on a third exchange continues the decentralization of the Energy Web community and provides better access to EWT enabling the community to build and deploy applications on the Energy Web Decentralized Operating System,” said Walter Kok, CEO of Energy Web. “This EWT listing on KuCoin is a further testament to the technology stack we’ve built, the new ways in which EWT can be used to build enterprise applications, and the momentum of the Energy Web ecosystem of validators, solution developers, and grid operators — all committed to a low-carbon electricity future by leveraging decentralized technologies such as blockchain.”

The Energy Web ecosystem includes some of the most-prominent companies in the global power sector, including Elia, Engie, Equinor, Exelon, Mercados Eléctricos, PG&E, PJM EIS, PTT, Shell, Stedin, and Vodafone.

“We are proud to introduce another great project, EWT, to KuCoin’s 5 million users globally,” said Johnny Lyu, CEO at KuCoin Global. “Energy Web has built an enterprise blockchain that represents power grid operators from around the world. That type of scale and buy-in from large energy companies committed to a decentralized, customer-centric electricity future is noteworthy. We will continue to support EWT and join hands to contribute to the mass adoption of blockchain and crypto.”

About Energy Web
Energy Web is a global, member-driven nonprofit accelerating a low-carbon, customer-centric electricity system by unleashing the potential of blockchain and decentralized technologies. EW focuses on technology integration and development, co-creating standards and architectures, speeding adoption, and building community.

In mid-2019, EW launched the Energy Web Chain, the world’s first enterprise-grade, public, open-source blockchain platform tailored to the sector’s regulatory, operational, and market needs. The EW Chain anchors a broader technology stack known as the Energy Web Decentralized Operating System (EW-DOS), a blockchain-plus suite of middleware, toolkits, and other digital solutions to support the energy transition.

EW also fostered the world’s largest energy blockchain ecosystem, comprising utilities, grid operators, renewable energy developers, corporate energy buyers, IoT / telecom leaders, and others. More than two-dozen of those companies host validator nodes for the EW Chain. Energy Web has become the industry’s leading energy blockchain partner and most-respected voice of authority on energy blockchain.
