Zug, 20 July 2023 — Energy Web Chain Validators recently approved a newly designed Community Fund Grant Program. The program’s objective is to support innovative projects aligned with Energy Web’s mission by awarding them with grants to turn innovative ideas into reality.

The program will be governed by a comprehensive set of rules approved by the validator community and managed by the Community Fund Committee. The rules and processes were inspired by the experience of several validators, who have participated in several grant programs in other Web 3 communities.

Although the Community Fund has been used for initiatives such as the Bug Bounty Program or the Validator Accounting Tool, its potential can be maximised by opening it to the wider public and supporting innovative projects that contribute to Energy Web’s mission. And with Energy Web entering the Polkadot environment and developing its next-generation blockchain Energy Web X, the opportunities for innovation are even greater.

The rules behind the program set a general framework comprised of specific requirements applicants must meet and also specify application processes. It features a tiered grant system intended to support different types of projects, from small-scale ideas such as building simple components to improve Energy Web’s tech stack to larger ones like building entirely new solutions or conducting pilots involving energy assets.

Impact-driven innovation and open-source technologies are deeply rooted in Energy Web’s mission and values. Applicants will be required to tackle tangible challenges and must be willing to share project results in a transparent way.

The first iteration of the program is officially accepting grants. Participants will be required to to submit an application via a simple online form made available on this website. And, though it has only just kicked off, future iterations are being planned by having a GitHub based application process (similar to W3F’s process) catering to developers and increasing transparency.

Energy Web Chain Validators look forward to receiving your applications. Stay tuned to upcoming announcements and do not hesitate in reaching out if you have any questions.
