Zug, Switzerland, 7 January 2022 — Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines (MIEM) and UTE have developed a Renewable Energy Certification System that recently entered production stage.

The application, built on the Energy Web decentralized operating system, will allow companies to retrieve certificates detailing the origin and source of renewable energy. The service will be available to both large and small-scale clients in the region.

The service will be made available to an increasing number of customers through June 2022. Through the implementation of this new tool, Uruguay has positioned itself as a global leader in the energy transition, creating a new value stream for those companies developing products and services in the country.
