Operation: Locating the Sza Stans:
Solana Imani Rowe, better known as SZA, is an American singer, songwriter, and icon. She has been creating music since 2011 and was signed in 2013 to her record label, Top Dawg Entertainment. Even though she has only released one studio album back in 2017, Ctrl. SZA reigns supreme. Social media cannot get enough of her spiritual, hot girl energy. I can’t even go on my Instagram explorer page without seeing at least 100+ SZA fan edits. The world can’t seem to get enough of her. This is understandable, considering SZA was the definitive sound for 2017. Her iconic bops ‘Garden’, ‘Broken Clocks’, and Drew Barrymore’, are still on constant replay on my apple music playlist. Ctrl’s beautiful melodies regarding love insecurity, sex, and cheating, made even the most prudish person stop and listen.
SZA’s Online Stan Base
Most of SZA’s online fan groups reside mainly on Instagram and Twitter. Many of her online fan accounts have remained extremely active with their posts and do heavy research on all things SZA related. @Szalooks on Instagram has garnered over 17.4 thousand followers on Instagram and 32.5 thousand on Twitter. The page shares SZA’s most iconic fashion looks and resides as a place for SZA’s fans to get the inside scoop on all things SZA related. You can also find a lot of SZA’s fan groups on Twitter. @Skynextdoor aka ‘SZA’s weekend dude’ are among some of the more active stan accounts on Twitter. He has over 12.4 thousand followers and constantly keeps his fellow SZA stans updated on the latest SZA related news. I would label this community as more decentralized since most of them rely on more than one social media network to get their forums across. Facebook was found to be the least active location for SZA’s online fan community. I found that they meet mainly online as their place of communication, they don’t have any direct ties to a specific in-person place. The only places that they could gather with one another, would probably have to be at the environmental project locations that SZA promotes on her personal social media accounts for her fans to share and sign-up for.

After much investigation, I have found that this community is a safe place for anyone to join. Whether you have been a fan of SZA since the very beginning or you simply just love some of her recent songs, there are multiple SZA stan pages out there for you to support! Her supporters think of her as more than just a singer. She is their sister, their fairyfingodmother, a warrior for the environment, and overall a bossassb. Other fans have described these online communities to be the root of their confidence and creativity.
