The Pewdiepie Reddit: And Meme Content Galore.
A community can be defined in numerous ways, but in simple terms, it is a gathering of people with common interests. That is a decent explanation for the Pewdiepie subreddit, but this community is practically all virtual. What made this internet community so popular? Well, Reader, it is essentially due to the humor and shared ideas.
In Memes We Trust
The “fellow nineteen-year-olds” come together on the subreddit mainly for two things; memes and inside jokes. The collection of fan man posts and banter brings all fans together and even Pewdiepie’s interaction in his YouTube videos. That is what makes his Reddit so successful. The fans as a collective agree that creating funny and wholesome memes while roasting Pewdiepie is the best. The fans control the Reddit by choosing content and upvoting on what they like. The higher the upvote, the more likely your post will get on a Pewdiepie’s YouTube video. Fans dream of that interaction to finally receive the confirmation from the one and only FELIX KJELLBERG. The big question is: will those posts get the big PP, or Reddit equivalent, upvote, or will they be “small-brained” individuals with a small pe…umm I mean….downvote.
What is trending on R/PewdiepieSubmissions?
Disclaimer: All videos mentioned will be linked at the end of the post.
The hot topic on the Reddit for the past couple of weeks has been about the CocoMelon diss track Pewdiepie made on YouTube. The song was removed from YouTube for violating their “bullying” policy, and every fan is upset about it. An example can be seen in the screenshot below from u/_Dawn_Amber_, where she notes the current status of the Coco video. Other users can be seen in the comments stating their opinions and making jokes. For Example, some user jokingly commented, “Youtube, my allegiance is to Pewdipie, to Coco”, with a response of “if you're not with me then you will be copystriked, only a woke corporate entity deals in absolutes.” This is a prime example of the banter between users and a direct mention to StarWars. (If you don’t know which scene this is referring to, don't worry about it. Only relevant to the Starwars nerds.)
Now a non-fan reading this is probably confused.
“Why did he make a diss track on a kid's YouTube channel” “Who even is CocoMelon” “Why does he diss 6ix9ine in the song.”
Well, reader, I can explain to you the origin of this and why it is trending as a hot post on Reddit. Awhile ago, before Pewdiepie reached over 100 million YouTube followers, he started a race between another YouTube channel called “T-Series” to see who would reach this number first. This became a huge meme and a big deal in his community because he always has been the most subscribed YouTube channel. It caused a huge uproar on Reddit, and Pewds created two funny diss tracks against the channel. (One called B* Lasagna, and another call Congratulations) The Indian company later sent a defamation notice against pewdiepie, so the meme slowly died after. This didn’t stop the community from gathering, and other YouTubers even chimed in on the fun. Another famous influencer named Mr.Beast even got a “sub to pewds sign” to be shown at the Super bowl. Sadly Pewds lost the race, but he is still considered the most subbed YouTuber since he was going against a company and not an individual. (Personally, I think T-Series bought their subs, but ANYWAYS)
Now you are probably wondering…. How the heck is this relevant to CocoMelon. Well, the coco situation was basically a repeat of what happened with the T-Series channel. Fans made many silly intros with fanart similar in likeness to the CocoMelon intro. That was the joke between the fans, which later progressed to Pewdipie incorporating fan-made outfits and armor in his diss track. The video was CLEARLY a joke, but YouTube took it down anyway. This made fans angry because so many other videos that blatantly violate YouTube’s guidelines stay on the site while this video still gets deleted. Even though the video is gone, fans still made many memes of the song and pointed out the fact that Felix jokingly roasted a family-friendly channel while DESTROYING 6ix9ine in the process. Pewds screams in his song, calling 69 names, like “rainbow b*, and a “snitch” (Rightfully so he is a terrible human being and a pedophile.) This collective anger towards the video being removed and constant jokes being made showed how the community can come together in any scenario. Even if Coco can only be streamed on Apple Music and Spotify.

Other Trending Topics: You mean there is more?
Minecraft is a big one currently because Felix started a new Minecraft series where he plays in hardcore mode. Jokes about the silly names he gives his animals, and etc., currently are the most popular posts.
Other topics include; terraria, live streams, and basically whatever the most recent YouTube video was. Most of the highest upvoted posts show what is trending on the site and the YouTube channel. These things are exciting to fans because they can be engaged together. Fanart, wholesome Marzia (His Wife) posts, and obviously memes are what bring this fandom joy.
A Community with no arguments? Impossible.
If you look on the Subreddit, you will have a hard time finding any divide. This is a very peaceful site, which means any disagreements are not amongst themselves. It is the subreddit vs. the media/youtube, who constantly hate on Pewdiepie. Conflict is always with other outlets because pewdiepie fans are pretty much on the same page about the things they think and like.
Any other “divides” can be seen as jokes like floor gang vs. wall gang. (Yeah, I’m not sure how to explain this one but know if you are reading this… we are floor gang) Overall this Reddit is all about enjoyment, so If you want some family-friendly content, you should hop on over to the site.
