Why does this Garden continue to grow?
After doing thorough research on the lives of SZA obsessed stans, I have come to the conclusion that the members of this community are very dedicated to the SZA cause. Besides their constant admiration of her, calling her their fairy godmother and environmental warrior. Her stans flattery goes beyond their online presence. Many of them have described their support for her online communities to be the main source of their physical confidence and creativity.
Safe Haven
The individual members that are a part of SZA’s stan community reap many benefits for choosing to partake in it. Benefits such as; being able to come together with a group that shares a mutual interest with one another and having the ability to speak candidly and unapologetically about all things regarding the community. This community continues to prove its sustainability, especially with @sza_htownteam constantly reminding their followers of SZA’s new musical projects in order to boost SZA’s views and overall streams.
Above @sza_htownteam on Instagram has created an SZA fan blog in order to better organize the community’s daily updates on all things SZA. I believe that an onlooker of this community would be drawn to this page because of how friendly and inviting the head of this community portrays themselves to be. They even state how their page is “Your #1 source for all updates on SZA! Don’t forget to check back for all the latest news”. I would describe the look of the website as being organized, well maintained, and appealing to the eye. Which I could definitely see benefiting their user involvement and creating high engagement for both their Instagram page and online blog site.
The Garden continues to grow
The community overall benefits from the individual member's contribution to the group because the more new members the community obtains, the more SZA’s musical projects and content are able to gain mass support, boost her up the charts, and help improve her overall status in the music industry. This community is active and functioning because community members understand that by prioritizing SZA’s content and musical projects, they can increase her popularity and engagement with her fans. Because Internet discusses how in the past many people shunned the idea of individuals having the ability to make friends over the internet; “In 1984, a researcher wondered if the internet was “ill-suited for such ‘social’ uses of language” as making friends, while in 2008, another mused that perhaps the internet was ‘basically alienating and unfulfilling” (McCulloch 63). How times have changed! This new age of social media stans has made it their mission to not only support all of Miss. Solana’s (aka SZA’s) endeavors, but to band together and choose to advocate for one another. People clearly gravitate towards this page because they promote a sense of good energy, a strong community, and a great love for their favorite artist.
