The New Urbanist Memes for Transit-Oriented Teens (NUMTOT), what are they; what do they do

The New Urbanist Memes for Transit Oriented-Teens also known as NUMTOT, so what or who they are, well from the name of the group it is pretty much self-explanatory, because you can tell that it really has to deal with memes. Well to tell you exactly who the NUMTOT are, they are a Facebook teen, young adults or older people-based group committed to conversation about Internet memes, and basically general talk encompassing New Urbanism and public transports, which is fairly significant. The group was founded by three college students. As you scroll through their Facebook post you find out that they are mainly about trains in a big way. The NUMTOT are brought together by their belief for a better city in the future and their sort of strong passion for a for better public transport system. There literally is not really any disagreement within the community because not only do the members share an interest in developing better, non-air-polluting very public transportation systems like investing generally more in trains, subways and buses, they also address sort of other topics about housing justice and climate change in a major way. for the most part the thing that keeps this community exciting and engaged literally is that for example according to a Freelance Journalist Elle Hunt from the Guardian the NUMTOT’S have a hope that in the year 2025, There mostly are no kind of individual vehicles, just shared rides buses and trains and bikes, where Four-way highways have been supplanted by bicycle ways. Walkers share the sidewalks with cyclists, or so they kind of thought. The air is perfect in light of the fact that the transports are electric, and life is simpler. Another thing that the NUMTOTS wishes for according to Noah waldman from ‘360.com’ is that American NUMTOTs for the most part wish that they could have the speed, unwavering quality, and proficiency of fast Japanese rail in their own urban areas. These hopes definitely are what keeps the community together. Improving public transport systems, changing to environmentally friendly power and putting resources into future-centered infrastructures are what the NUMTOTS are rooting for. I think that memes actually have a very big influence on politics and how society views certain issues than we are more conscious of. Even though they might literally seem unserious and pretty silly they essentially have become an important way of communication in a major way throughout society, research has shown that memes played a role in the 2016 elections and also the NUMTOTS endorsed Bernie Sanders because of his political standpoint on public transportation systems which is similar to that of NUMTOT. So, at the end of the day they are not just some silly meme group as they have an increasing possibility to bring about change in the transportation system in the future.

Below is a tweet about what the NUMTOT represents posted on twitter by a potential or fan of the NUMTOT’S.

Response from Angelique Garst

Wonderful work Leyla! Not only did you do a great job with your informal tone, you also incorporated examples and quotes that were put together nicely. One thing I suggest is to maybe try not to be repetitive with some of your words such as “literally”. I suggest switching up synonyms to use. I can confidently say that your quotes were relevant. I liked how your voice stayed the same throughout your whole paper. One other thing to note on is to always re-read before publishing to catch little things such as a comma where a period is supposed to be, separating sentences that are drawn out or incorporating a semicolon, and adding capitalization in the correct places. Other than that, you did extremely well and made me informed with your community to a point where I have a much better understanding of it overall. Thank you for your feedback on my paper as well!
