Honestly I thought what these players were doing with the gambling within Counter-Strike was genius. No one wants portions of your money to possibly be taken from third party regulators and by gambling and trading directly with other players it was a sure thing that you could do, assuming the players remained faithful to their bets people would have nothing to lose, aside from their bets. Taking a game that had very minor traffic from people on a regular basis and having the players take the game and expanding it on their own, without the help of the creators (directly speaking), this game has managed to turn into an absolute hit and continues to be. Essentially becoming a diamond of game from nothing is the best thing the creators could have hoped for. It wasn’t surprising as the game became more and more popular so did the amount of betting. As we are starting to really see the competitive gaming industry has grown substantially in the recent future and with this draws the attention of larger federally regulated organizations to maintain the amount of illegal betting and gambling. With this large increase in competitive gaming being so new authorities and laws surrounding these specific actions are hard to get strict with as the resources need to strictly regulate it aren’t there. Even with sports gambling being completely illegal within 46 states the website is still accessed buy more than 4 states, giving a simple warning of checking your gambling laws specific to your state before continuing. As said in the article, seven popular players were banned from competing or representing the Valve Company in any way in an action to show the company is taking the illegal gambling actions seriously.
