Discovering that Santa isn’t real can be a significant moment for children, and it’s important to handle it with care. Once the magic of Santa is exposed, you can still keep Christmas exciting for kids by focusing on the joy, traditions, and the spirit of the holiday season.

With Santa out of the way, you can focus on other things. Kids, who have aged out of Santa, may bring their wish lists straight to Mom and Dad. Our oldest added us to a Google doc wish list, “Hey Guys, since she (referring to the youngest child) doesn’t believe anymore, we can just send our lists straight to you.”

No need to go to the middleman. Go straight to the source. I get it, and yet, the crassness seems cold and calloused.

If parents pay attention to the activities that stand out as special to kids, they can still make the holiday memorable. It’s important to teach children that Christmas is not just about receiving gifts but also about giving to others. You can encourage them to participate in charitable activities or volunteer for a good cause during the holiday season.

Soon enough, kids will bring partners and significant others to holiday gatherings. Focus on joyous moments here and now.
