I attended a baby shower for my grandson and his wife.

I realized how much I have missed being in a family and friend group setting. Simply being with family members and friends felt wonderful to me. I realized I have been missing out, living an almost reclusive life since having Covid. The camaraderie with the laughter was wonderful, lifting my spirits immensely.

I loved watching my grandson’s beautiful wife open her gifts and seeing all the cute gag gifts, as well as, the multiple useful ones. The dining room table was set with a beautiful table cloth and it, was loaded with an awesome array of snacks. This was a welcome, fun outing. Since I live in Jacksonville I don’t get to see my grandson very often as they live in Chicago. My son is a pastor, so he said Grace before we all ate.

I sat next to my daughter-in-law’s mother. She laughed and said, “Why are men at the shower? Times sure have changed.” However, I could see she was enjoying every minute too.

We also played a cute little game. Then, they had us write advice for the couple on a card without our names for them to read later.
