From Van Life to Sailboat Dreams — Living on the Edge Takes Practice
Adventure is a skill you can hone
Just four short months ago, if you would’ve told me I’d be sitting in coastal North Carolina, prepping to quit my job, and be the proud owner of a 31-foot sailboat — I would’ve probably thought you were nuts. And I would’ve had a lot of questions.
Why would I leave Denver — a city that I love?
How would I pay my bills?
I don’t know a damn thing about sailboats.
I realize that last one isn’t a question — it’s just a cold, hard fact.
Life sometimes has other plans
I think it was John Lennon who said, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”
Back in April, I was busy planning out some landscaping projects, collecting books to read in the local parks over the summer, and fantasizing about car camping in the Rocky Mountains. I had fully assimilated to life as a “Coloradan.” And, I loved my life as it was.
The last thing on my mind was the possibility of packing up and moving somewhere new — especially not North Carolina.
