How Engage is Going Where Your Story Matters
A publication for storytellers set to inspire and explore the vastness of human experience
Those of you following our publication since its inception probably already have a clear idea about what drives us and understand why Engage is such a unique haven among probably thousands of other writing communities.
Today, I want to share more about our history and ethos. While looking for a name and motto for a new writer’s guild, the eureka moment came while watching an episode of the TV series Star Trek: Picard.
I’ve always been a Trekkie, and “Engage” immediately resonated with me.
In the Star Trek canon, Jean-Luc Picard (played by Patrick Stewart) serves as captain of the USS Enterprise, and “Engage” has been his signature phrase at least since Star Trek: The Next Generation.
If you know a bit about Star Trek lore, you already know “Engage” carries significant semantic amplification reach as a call to action for meaningful and decisive human exploration.
