There’s something about Medium — something that makes you want to stick and not let it go. Yet I left Medium — well I did not really leave — I took a break from writing on Medium. I was still an avid Medium reader. It was sort of similar to when I tried to quit smoking! I still kept a pack of cigarettes, hidden in my stash, and I would smoke one every now and then.

Meeting Medium for the first time

I have never been into blogging. There was a brief time in college when I tried my hand at blogging. Even that was limited to ten odd posts stretched over five semesters and was not public. I was not ready to open up, just yet.

I met Medium through pure chance. I was fooling around and not looking for something too serious…I just stumbled upon Medium. We were planning a trip to Europe and I was browsing travel blogs to gain a few tips on having fun in Europe on a budget.

I found tonnes of travel stories on Medium — these stories were different. There were no Must Do lists, no hotel recommendations, nor about what buses or trains to take. These stories were experiences of fellow travelers — their emotions, feelings, stories of pure bliss and joy. It was different.
