Two years ago we designed an App, where the customer was looking fancy application.

We come up with a design which was not looking Good, Big fonts without social signup and all. He asked I do not like it; This is not trendy.

I made my points. Finally, the customer is king and Queen too, we agreed with his decision and created a fancy app. Even though he was giving cashback, User retention was very low.

He asked Mayank; I do not know why this is happening. We discussed.

  1. As you are targeting uneducated lower middle class, They need a simple and useful app like WhatsApp, not a fancy app.
  2. It is better to give user the app in their regional language rather than trying to teach them English.
  3. People downloaded your app because they were getting 200 Rs, But they feel lost,
  4. It is not just downloading the app; If they use it then only they will keep it. Now! User Training cost was so high.
  5. That time Jio was not as popular, 6 MB app was hard to make space on their phone. Android phone used to get hang. We said let’s make 2 MB or less, which has fewer graphics and external library.

Finally, they decided to go with the Ugly version of their App, which is now having more than 70,000 Downloads and People are loving their services.
