We Are Killing Our World Alarmingly Fast
Being that this is the last post I will write, I would like to talk about the alarming rate in which we are destroying the beautiful place that we call home. I have never really sat down and realized the intense and sad rate that we are until taking this course and it shouldn’t have been that way.
In an article posted last year on Earth Day, it showed statistically the vanishing of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean, rising water, our rising population, the rising temperatures, and the disappearing of the Amazon Rain Forests.
Now this was a year ago… have we done even more damage in a year? Well with new policies such as the potential of President Donald Trump building a wall comes with major implications.
In the article it states, “The climate impacts of a massive concrete wall running from San Diego to Brownsville, Texas, along the border of the United States and Mexico begin with the source of the materials, Mills said. The production of cement, the material that holds together concrete, is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions.”
Overall, we have a lot of things to think about and do in order to turn around the direction that the environment is heading in. But, it is not looking too promising.
