Pop music. You hear it everywhere. In stores, when you're driving and even when you're just walking around.

There are many different sub-genres of pop music, some are pop rock, teen pop, and Latin pop.

Pop Rock:

Pop rock is rock music with more of a professional stance and less about your attitude in the song. Pop-rock originated in the 1950s as one of the alternatives to rock and roll. Some popular bands and songs associated with pop-rock are; The Beatles with the song Hey Jude, Michael Jackson and one of his most popular songs Billie Jean, and as well as Imagine Dragons with the radio hit Believer.

Teen Pop:

Teen pop is exactly what the name is. Pop music that is created for preteens and teenagers. This specific genre can include different genres such as dance, hip-hop and country music. The characteristics of this genre most likely have auto-tuned vocals, choreographed dance moves and visual appeals such as nice, attractive faces, styled hair and designer clothes. The lyrics would be focused on teenage issues, finding yourself, growing up and fitting in. Artists such as the Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, 5 Seconds of Summer, One Direction and of course the Jonas Brothers are associated with this genre.

Latin Pop:

Latin pop music gets their influences from Latin America. This could mean any Spanish-speaking country and their style of pop music. This genre combines upbeat Latin beats with American pop music. Latin pop has become one of the most popular forms of music in the past decade. The most recent popular song that is associated with Latin pop is Despacito by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, but other songs like El Perdón by Nicky Jam and Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira have also had their fair share of popularity.
