POV/Voice — “Hills Like White Elephants”

In this story, we get a look into a conversation between two people. The author uses a third person perspective, however it is focused solely on the couple. We don’t get great descriptions about their surroundings or anyone else around them, and we don’t get the full story about what the conversation is about or how the characters are feeling. It’s almost as if we are someone sitting next to them, and we happen to overhear. The lack of all the pieces to the story brings the reader closer, as you try to decipher what’s going on in this time of the character’s lives.
