While reading Patton’s essay I found it interesting the way she described how one poor decision affected the rest of her life. The essay made me realize that each and every decision we make will affect not only our lives but everyone close to us as well. Our lives are just one decision after the other, slowly building up over time to create our individual stories. However, the essay emphasizes how our decisions not only affect our individual stories but also those around us. The four doctors who misdiagnosed the sarcoma for melanoma caused the author’s life to change drastically and had endlessly long impacts on her family. Patton’s essay shows how each and every decision has a lasting impact on not only ourselves but to those around us as well.
