POV

The point of view in the story “varsity” comes mainly from the team of middle school boys that were bullying their teammate who also had special needs. In the beginning it explains that they were all football and basketball players, but boy that they bullied wasn’t “one of them”. The players mocked him calling him varsity because he believed that he was good enough to make the team. The teammates felt some kind of satisfaction in heckling their teammate. Although the boy never yelled back or got angry, although it’s said that he cried and looked hurt, he never fought back. i think this stories uses a little of first person participant and also observer because he did bully the boy, took his clothes, and did things directly to him but he also did things indirectly. When he instigated another boy to attack the special needs kid by making up lies. in the last paragraphs there was a switch go second person narration when the dean was questioned how the boys felt about their actions. But the story ends again in first person when the boys realize their mistakes.
