Interpretation

Everyone has slightly different interpretations of everything. We are allowed to believe whatever we want about a poem, essay, movie, or anything in general. Usually when an English teacher at school gives us a poem or short story to read and interpret, they try to force their interpretations on us, as if that is the only meaning behind it. I think this is wrong, because no one except for the original writer truly knows the purpose of the piece, and we all get to assume what we want. Without checking with the original writer, there is never a way to know for sure what the meaning of the work is. Therefore, everyones interpretations can be correct.
