I choose these two works as I am not proficient with writing poetry and it normally a struggle for me to articulate my thoughts as a poem. However, I wanted to attempt to try a poem and I felt that it would be easier for me to learn writing poems by first trying to take from someone who already is proficient at poetry. Furthermore, this allowed me to take a swing at the ball instead of running into it. There were some challenges I faced though. For one it was difficult to come up with the same number of words that they had per line in the case of The Red Wheelbarrow as I had to be able to emulate how their poem flowed. Another issue I had was keeping the poem on the topic of the same idea. For instance, I wanted to keep the mood of the poem the same which made it much more difficult than simply looking at the form of the writer. I was able to overcome these challenges by first simply reading the pieces over again. Then I started to try and understand why the author wrote the way he did or at least attempt to get into the same mood as him when they wrote it so I could keep the same tone.
